Sandy’s interest in health began with studying a degree in biomedicine that brought to life the intricate design of the human body, its hosts, parasites and medical treatment. From this knowledge she developed a desire to carry on learning and helping medical professionals keep their depth of knowledge and education up to date.
Sandy’s career highlight at Heartbeat has been her involvement in delivering medical professionals’ continued education, known as Continued Professional Development (CPD), through protected learning time via virtual media. This has opened the door to availability and accessibility in the volatile world that the global pandemic has produced.
Sandy is very proud that medical professionals have been so engaged in the CPD sessions. Her heart is warmed to know that they are eager to learn and keep on learning; and in learning they will be passing their skill on to the patients they care for.
Outside of Heartbeat Sandy has many hobbies that are ‘art, nature and sport’ oriented. She is passionate about them and the joy and peace they bring to her busy life, but her big passion is without doubt learning more about the creation and design of the human body. Sandy is driven and guided by her Christian faith and her family.
It was the experience of Claire’s Grandma falling sick and being supported in her final days in a local hospice that made Claire want to make a difference to people. It was not long after her passing that Claire was offered a receptionist role at a GP practice.
Claire’s proudest moment so far is being offered a role in Heartbeat and the work she does now to support all the projects being delivered. She loves the challenge the role gives her.
Claire prides herself on family, being a great daughter and friend. She loves to keep active and taking care of her mental wellbeing and mindset.
Nikki joins Heartbeat from the finance sector where she has worked for the past 12 years. Her career began working in payroll and more recently over the last 5 years within HR. She is truly passionate about looking after people and supporting them to overcome any challenges.
Outside of work Nikki loves exploring and discovering new places with her family – her two young boys and Amber the Cockapoo certainly keep her on her toes!
Nicola has spent most of her working career in London, within administration and events in the retail property industry. Nicola’s job required her to travel and work in places throughout the UK, Europe, North America and South Africa, which she really enjoyed.
Having taken a break from her career to spend more time with her family, and moving permanently back to North Yorkshire, Nicola is looking forward to working within the team at Heartbeat and to the new challenges and opportunities it will bring.
Nicola enjoys reading, walking, classical and choral music, and any fresh- or sea-water based activity!
