Better Access

Evening and weekend appointments for people who struggle to access GP appointments during the normal working week

Better Access

We’re improving our Better Access service to ensure our patients experience good speed of access to primary care. We’re doing this through increasing our service delivery locations, opening times and making it easier to arrange an appointment at a time to suit you.

GP Practices in Hambleton and Richmondshire areas are working together with Heartbeat to offer a wider range of appointments between 6:30-8pm Mon-Fri and 9am – 5pm on Saturdays through Better Access Service clinics.

Better Access Service clinics consist of multi-skilled team including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice and Treatment Room Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists.

Patients registered with any of the GP Practices in your area will be able to access appointments at these extra clinics.

How to book

Patients interested in these appointments should speak to their GP practice reception team and find out which appointments are available. Please note that patients may not necessarily be consulted by a staff member from their own GP practice and must consent for their Patient Care Record to be shared out from their practice with the consulting clinician.

Your views about our Better Access service are important to us. We want to make sure the service is as good as it can be and understanding your experience will help us to develop and deliver our services in the right way for all our patients.
