At present between 30–50% of the UK population are living with a persistent pain condition. The Explain Pain Clinic provides education and information to any adult who suffers from pain and would like to know more about how to manage it.

About Explain Pain
At present between 30–50% of the UK population are living with a persistent pain condition. This translates into between 43,000–72,000 residents of Hambleton, Richmondshire & Whitby who are managing persistent pain the associated mental and physical impacts.
With waiting times for specialist pain management services range from 10 weeks to six months, Heartbeat have funded a pilot created by expert pain Physiotherapist Neil Goodenough to help address the issue.
The purpose of the Explain Pain Clinic is to provide education and information to any adult who suffers from pain and would like to know more about how to manage their pain.
The service for adults (18 years and over) will initially be run online via Zoom in sessions lasting approximately 90 minutes and will cover topics including:
- Understanding pain and how it is created within the body
- The factors that influence your experience of pain
- How you can influence your pain experience, from sleep to nutrition, thoughts and emotions to stress
